As I am sipping my really good cup of Ethiopian Arabica, medium roast, coffee this morning, I’ve been considering something I heard a young representative say as she was recording a presentation for one of the social networks on “green” and “racist” vegetables.
Admittedly, it was a little difficult to follow, as she seemed a bit… unfocused (kinda like puff, puff, pass) in her presentation. Well, anyway… I was surprised to discover that the type of vegetable grown, in a community garden, may be an indication of the level of racism within a community!
What she had to say in this rambling almost incoherent video also got me to wondering if this nation is in line for upcoming legislation regulating what kind of veggies we’re allowed to grow in our community gardens.
Follow through on this peculiar line of thinking; She explains, “…when someone says that it’s too hard to do a green space that grows yucca instead of cauliflower or something, what you’re doing is that you’re taking a colonial approach to environmentalism”, “…gardening is a “core component” of (aoc’s) Green New Deal that aims to end ‘colonial’ attitudes about community gardens.” “You need to… just flow into (force) these communities… to make it work.”
Imagine the regulations!
Cauliflower! It’s a white, racist, veggie! Get rid of it! I never imagined that vegetables could be that way! Wow! Never mind the fact cauliflower is a staple food grown worldwide.
Milk is ‘white’ – does drinking that also make us Colonial-Racists. Imagine, following her train of thought… No more Cows either… she hates cows! Also a world-wide ‘issue’.
Heaven forbid that we grow or eat anti green stuff! Lemme tell ya… You eat beans, you become an “anti-green-ozone-layer-killer-meister!” Baked beans, Black beans, Black-eyed peas, Butter beans, Cannellini (white) beans, Kidney beans, Lima beans, Navy beans… eating them may well put you on a future aoc* anti-green list where you must be “re-educated” and taught how to grow yucca.
But wait! There is more! Artichokes, Asparagus, Broccoli, Brussel sprouts, Cabbage, Celery, Onions, Peas, and Sweet potatoes can cause gas! Again, imagine the regulations!
And then there are the fruits! All of the following can produce gas (ya, it’s a stretch) which has potential to adversely effect the ozone layer: Apples, Apricots, Mango, Oranges, Peaches, Pears, Plums, Watermelon, and raisins all can produce gas when consumed…
If we follow her line of thought, (and that video where cauliflower becomes the ‘forbidden fruit’, makes it very dicey to do) we could imagine a New Green Deal Nation where we only eat either yucca (desert flowering plant) or yuca (Tropical/Tapioca plant/ Cassava), drink ‘non racist drinks’ and smoke pot… I think the pot smoke would be so we forget about the crazy world we’d find ourselves in…
Well, got news for ya… Marijuana is a great anti ozone layer plant, and the yucca produces gas when consumed also – does that effect the ‘green deal’? How about all that ‘aoc’ hot air?
Ok… My thoughts on that video… as I pull the handle (*flushes)
